Speed Darlington AKA Akpi is said to have been arrested in Owrri after his show in Owerri
Speed Darlington is trending in Nigeria because activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has revealed that the singer was rearrested in Owerri after a show.
Deji Adeyanju also stated that Speed Darlington aka Akpi’s rearrest was orchestrated by music star Burna Boy, on whose account Speed Darlington was first arrested and subsequently released earlier in October.
Speed Darlington was arrested and remanded after he made defamatory videos and statements regarding Burna Boy’s association with record producer and music executive, P. Diddy, who is currently facing a legal battle on charges of prostitution and sex trafficking.
However, Netizens have reacted. With many calling Burna Boy’s action as oppresson, some others believe Speed Darlington should be dealt with. Here are some thoughts of some Nigerians:
“Have you ever cautioned AKPI? Or you leave him to his misbehavior, defamation of Burna’s character internationally and then come here to blackmail Burna as an Oppressor. Expect better from you Barrister. Better still drop AKPI’s case. The boy is clearly also cyberstalking”
“Aluko, it’s obvious that the PhD is just for decoration. If Burna feels Akpi defamed him, why doesn’t he take him to court instead of using the police to detain and harass him? The last time he got him arrested, they still haven’t returned his iPhone to date. Why?”
“The case of Speed Darlington is that of, “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad”. Dude has a serious diarrhea of the mouth and if care is not taken, it’s that mouth that will ruin him.”
“I hear Speed Darlington was arrested last night in Owerri. There’s a popular adage that says “A stone that you see coming from afar doesn’t blind someone’s eyes”. Akpi is the 0.04% of people that the same stone would blind their eyes. He made a post that there’s a plan to arrest him and went on to cancel his ticket to Nigeria, but he still came into the country without sorting things out. You can’t have a case of defamation and go online to further defame the same person with lots of threats.”
